Belay Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer (Data Ingestion and Transformation Engineer) to join our intel team. We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join our team in supporting the access, structure, and meaning extraction of raw data. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for working with data, a keen eye for detail, and the grit to tackle complex challenges head-on. This role requires a self-reliant individual constantly striving to improve the codebase and optimize data processing workflows. Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain scripts, tools, and applications to access and retrieve raw data from various sources.
  • Design and implement robust data structures and algorithms to organize and store extracted data effectively.
  • Apply advanced techniques such as data parsing, cleansing, and normalization to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.
  • Identify and fix inefficiencies in the codebase, optimizing performance and resource utilization.
  • Continuously monitor and analyze data processing workflows to identify areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and debug data-related issues, proposing and implementing scalable solutions.  Explore and evaluate new technologies and methodologies to enhance data processing capabilities.
  • Document data processing workflows, best practices, and technical specifications for knowledge sharing and maintainability.

Candidates should have the following qualifications: 
  • TS/SCI Clearance with polygraph
  • 3 yrs., B.S. in a technical discipline or 4 additional yrs. in place of B.S.

Candidates are desired to have the following skills:
  • Strong proficiency in Python.
  • Expertise in data manipulation, transformation, and extraction techniques.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
  • Familiarity with database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL) and data storage technologies.
  • Knowledge of data quality assurance techniques and best practices.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

​​​​​​Nice to Haves:
  • Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
  • Knowledge of data streaming technologies like Kafka.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data processing services.
  • Exposure to data visualization tools and techniques (e.g., Matplotlib, D3.js, Tableau).
  • Previous experience in data engineering or data-intensive software development roles.
